No question is more dreaded in an IEP meeting than, "How did you pick those goals?" In this busy day and age, the importance of data can be overlooked. SLPs cannot operate on assumptions or they will end up in due process. This course will help you shift from observational "I think" statements to statements grounded in concrete data, making you more confident when making recommendations to teams.

After completing this course, the student will be able to...

  1. As a result of this presentation, the participant will be able to identify common pitfalls in data collection and implement strategies for collecting meaningful data.
  2. As a result of this presentation, the participant will be able to explain multiple data sources to use when assessing progress that include use of both quantitative and qualitative data.
  3. As a result of this presentation, the participant will be able to increase overall quality of treatment as a result of reflection on data to make meaningful decisions in future therapy sessions.

    Thanks for that food for thought. I will be looking for more rubrics and criterion referenced tests. BTW- in NJ we do not have to list the activity we did when billing for medicaid (yes, note the area of therapy, I.e., language, artic. but not the specific activity we used.)
