Kelly Ott, MEd, MHS, CCC-SLP, has over 20 years of experience in various roles as an administrator, regular educator, and speech-language pathologist. She has served students from preschool through high school with a wide range of special education needs. She is currently in private practice and contracts with public schools. Several national and state organizations have invited Kelly to present on higher order thinking skills, compliant IEP goals, and collaborative approaches to learning. Kelly’s diverse experiences have allowed her to serve in several roles on the IEP team and she brings these multiple perspectives to professional development trainings. Lara Wakefield, PhD, CCC-SLP, has over 20 years of experience as a speech-language pathologist, researcher, and parent advocate. Lara is in private practice and assists parents with special education advocacy in 27 districts in mid-Missouri. She has presented nationally on the topics of collaborative models of intervention, compliant IEP goals, and evidence-based approaches. Lara is the recipient of three U.S. Department of Education grants and three Missouri Department of Education grants. She helps professionals and parents understand research and legal jargon in a meaningful way as it applies to special education.
